It’s not Optional, It’s Foundational
Are you able to hear God moment by moment, 24/7? Do you struggle with knowing the will of God?
In this blog series, I’ll show you how living disconnected from God and the spirit realm is not the way God designed you to live. He is always communicating and the spiritual realm is real!
In part 1, I’ll begin unpacking why knowing how to communicate with God is so important. So go ahead; jump in trusting there’s a deeper, more adventurous, supernatural way to live!
If I had to pick one topic to teach people for the rest of my life, hands down it would be how to actively engage with God, communicate with him, and hear his voice anytime, anywhere, 24/7.
As a spiritual leader, I am frequently asked my opinion about God’s will on things.
A lot of the time, it’s specific to people’s situations rather than something you can answer by finding a scripture for it in the Bible. Things like: should I move to this state, marry this person, take this job, or start this business?
It’s true; you aren’t going to find direct answers to these types of specific questions in the Bible. While God uses scripture to speak to us, it’s also really easy to take verses out of context, inject meaning into them based on our own experiences or desires, and interpret them through a myriad of different doctrinal filters. In fact, how to read, interpret, and understand the Bible is a whole other blog series I should probably tackle someday. But for the moment, let me stay on point.
Being able to have two-way conversations with God on a moment-by-moment basis is foundational in our walk with God. It should be the first thing we learn to do as a new believer.
We start this wonderful new relationship with God, yet we have to get to know him without being able to talk with Him? This is nonsense. This is not normal Christianity at all.
What little child isn’t in constant communication with his or her parent? How much more then should we, as children of God, be in continual communion with our heavenly Father? In fact, what do we think “pray without ceasing” is? It’s not talking about hiding away in a closet somewhere fasting and praying with some religious form. It’s talking about constant communion with our heavenly Father.
But sadly, many of us haven’t been taught this as a foundational part of our relationship with God—much less how to do it.
We aren’t told that it’s so easy, even a young child can do it.
So as a result, this is not how we live. Instead, we walk around spiritually dull, unaware of what is happening in the heavenly realms.
I like to think about it this way. There are no handicapped spirits in the kingdom of God. None us were born again spiritually “deaf or dumb” or without the ability to communicate with our heavenly Father. All of us have spiritual senses to sense what the Spirit of God is revealing.
The problem is that few of us have been taught how to operate this way.
We are like caterpillars that became butterflies but didn’t realize it, so we are still living like caterpillars. It’s time we learn to fly and operate as a new creation!
In Part Two of this series, we’ll dive into how our union with God gives us unlimited and on-demand access to wisdom and how living any other way is completely abnormal!
